Each week includes a 1-hour group class or discussion (prep questions, an intro to next week's assignment, and crypto news), a 30-minute 1-on-1 code review with instructor feedback, study time using videos and readings we provide, and a new assignment that takes up the majority of your week — plus interview prep support when you need it.

Should I already know Solidity?

Being familiar with Solidity is a huge advantage, but it's not required. You can learn Solidity quite easily — writing secure code is the tricky part, and that's exactly why this bootcamp exists. The very first module teaches the fundamental concepts of Solidity.

Do I need to be familiar with JavaScript?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You should be comfortable writing unit tests in JavaScript and building simple web applications. This is not a web development bootcamp — the emphasis is on smart contracts — so we assume you know web dev fundamentals and JavaScript or can self-teach. React.js, Next.js, and a CSS framework like Tailwind are recommended but not required.

Can I get a job as an auditor after completing the course?

Security is a top priority at Metana, and most assignments are based on hacking — you won't graduate if you can't complete the hacks. That said, becoming a smart contract auditor without extensive development experience and a cybersecurity foundation is unrealistic; Metana focuses on making you a strong Web3 developer first, which is the foundation for an auditor pathway.

What existing knowledge and experience does this course require?

This course is designed for programmers with at least 2 years of experience. You should have 1–2 years developing JavaScript- or TypeScript-based production software, competence with Bash/shell scripting, and familiarity with Git and GitHub version control. Complete beginners should consider the Full Stack Web3 Beginner Bootcamp first.

How much time should I spend on this course each week?

It changes from week to week — anywhere between 5 and 35 hours per week depending on what's covered and your level of expertise. We recommend reserving at least 20 hours per week; some weeks take more than others.

Why is there a limit of 10 students per class?

Accepted Answer

Large classes make people communicate less, which we want to avoid. A low instructor-to-student ratio makes it easier to answer and ask questions, keep up with your progress, identify your weaknesses, and give you a personalized learning experience. We want to concentrate on quality service first.

Is this bootcamp hard?

Yes — as our testimonials say, this bootcamp is really hard, and there's a chance you won't complete it within the 16 weeks. We condense 2+ years of skill and experience into 4 months. Reserve 20–30 hours per week; for some learners it can become full-time.

Can I take more time than 16 weeks to complete the course?

That's completely fine. As long as you're showing interest and doing the work, we'll consider your reasons and can move you to a later cohort. However, if you fall behind due to a lack of seriousness, you'll be asked to leave — our goal is to equip passionate students for blockchain careers.
